This Wednesday, April 29, 2020, HRN asks you to show your support for survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim. We encourage you to post a picture of yourself wearing denim on social media using the hashtag #HRNTrinity.
Denim Day is an international day of protest against the misconceptions that surround sexual violence. In 1999, the Italian Supreme Court overruled a rape conviction. The justices of the court argued that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her remove her jeans, - thereby implying consent.
Wearing denim on Denim Day serve as a conversation-starter for essential issues like consent, respect, and supporting survivors.
Sexual assault survivors can receive support any time by calling our 24 hour Crisis Line, (530)623-HELP.
